Trailing variegated Philodendron is really easy to start in water like I did this one. It is about 5 years old and I have a half dozen starts in the pot started at different times and added. One year a rabbit or something ate off practically everything when I put it outside for the Summer. This one does come in out of the cold and is inside right now. Now that I am in the South, I would like to get a split leaf one in the ground outside. I have seen a number of really beautiful ones in the yards of others. However, while I have one in a pot and have not put it in the ground yet, I am happy that I have not because we have had the coldest Winter since 1970 here in Baldwin County Alabama. I don't think that my split leaf Philodendron would have made it outside in the ground.
